FaithWorks
FaithWorks exists to promote the involvement of all parishioners in works of social justice in the areas of education, advocacy, direct service and prayer, to coordinate existing ministry activities in these areas, and to identify areas of social justice that are not being addressed.

Living our faith through ACTIVE works of justice by educating, advocating, direct services, and prayer.

The Principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST)

1. Human Dignity: Everyone created in God's image
2. Respect for Human Life: from conception through death
3. Association: as persons we are sacred and social
4. Participation: we all have a right and duty together to seek the common good
5. Preferential Protection for the Poor and Vulnerable: Matthew 25:31-46
6. Solidarity: global interdependency
7. Stewardship: we are managers, not owners of anything including our life and earth
8. Human Equality: treating everyone fairly
9. Common Good: social conditions that allow people to realize their full potential and dignity

SERVICES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Service

• Passive Collection for the Poor: monthly collection used to serve the disadvantaged in our local community.
• Resurrection Connection: a network of Resurrection parishioners committed to assisting people in need in our local community.
• Fair Trade Gifts: Third World gifts for the holidays
• Rice Bowl: Lenten alms giving program

Advocacy

• Catholic Days at the Capital: Promote attendance at our Capital to be a voice for social justice issues.
• P.E.A.C.E.: Contribute time, talent and treasures to this valuable organization that is continuing the work of Jesus.
• Legislative Alerts: Email updates on legislative issue.

Education

• JustMatters: A 6-8 week program of formation and transformation to learn about God's call to us and to put it into action.
• Workshops: Informational programs about social justice issues and Catholic Social Teaching.
• Monthly Mass focusing on CST: Our pastor has committed to incorporating social justice into the homily at least once each month to increase awareness of social justice and biblical teaching

Prayer

• Annual Prayer Service: Ecumenical prayer service focused on a local, national or global need.
• Prayer Palanka (Prayer Chain): Promoting prayer throughout the parish, focusing on social justice issues.
• National Day of Prayer: Breakfast and prayer service.

MEMBERSHIP
All parishioners by right of baptism are naturalized members of FaithWorks. God, our Father, calls each and everyone one of us to strive to build his kingdom on earth.
